1. Lincoln Train Museum — 425 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg, PA 17325
Kick off your epic trip at the Lincoln Train Museum in Gettysburg. Within steps of the site where President Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address, the Lincoln Train Museum takes visitors on a journey through the history of the railroad. Visit exhibits that focus on the Civil War, World War I and II, and the Wild West. The Lincoln Train Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
2. Colebrookdale Railroad — East 3rd Street, Boyertown, PA 19512
Next stop: Colebrookedale Railroad. Climb aboard one of the themed-train excursions, such as the Autumn Splendor Fall Foliage, the Zombie Hunter Train, or the Santa's Polar Express.
3. New Hope & Ivyland Railroad — 32 West Bridge Street, New Hope, PA 18938
After a relaxing journey aboard the Colebrookdale Railroad, climb aboard the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. The enchanting railroad offers a variety of excursions throughout the year. Opt for a traditional scenic train ride. Or, plan a visit for one of the popular theme trains, such as the Haunted Halloween and the Fall Foliage excursions.
4. Choo Choo Barn — 226 Gap Road, Strasburg, PA 17579
Remember watching the train go around the tree every Christmas? Get that magical feeling you had as a kid when you visit the Choo Choo Barn. Spanning 1,700 square feet, the barn features 22 trains that run and more than 150 animated figures. The Choo Choo Barn is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5. Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania — 300 Gap Road, Strasburg, PA 17579
Our next stop is also in Ronks. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania provides intriguing insight into the history of the railroad. Explore the more than 100 rail cars and locomotives on display, including interactive exhibits. Visit the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
6. Strasburg Railroad — 301 Gap Road, Ronks, PA 17572
Kick back and relax on a ride on the Strasburg Railroad. The railroad features 45-minute scenic rides as well as special themed-trains. Themes include Thomas the Train, the Great Train Robbery, and Santa's Paradise Express.
7. Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant — 312 Paradise Lane, Ronks, PA 17572
Spend a leisurely evening on a caboose at Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant. Cabooses feature a range of floor plans, including a small family caboose, a medium family caboose, and the baggage car. Eat dinner or breakfast at Casey's Restaurant at the motel.
8. Miniature Railroad Club of York —
Wheatfield Street, York, PA 17403
End your epic train-themed trip through Pennsylvania at the Miniature Railroad Club of York. Plan a trip when the club, a staple in York since 1943, hosts one of its scheduled open houses. Upcoming dates include November 25 and 26, December 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31, 2017.
