Clip clop. Clip clop. There's just something so relaxing about the sound of a horse's hooves as they hit the pavement. The rhythm's almost certain to create a feeling of tranquility that washes over us. Climb aboard a horse drawn carriage ride through Pittsburgh for a picturesque tour of Station Square or Downtown and for a bit of sheer relaxation.
Horse drawn carriage rides are a popular activity during the holidays, but did you know you can enjoy a scenic carriage ride the rest of the year, too?
Mike's Carriage Service, of Causetelot Farms in Cecil, offers several carriage tours that will allow you to see Pittsburgh from a whole new angle.
For a short yet picture-perfect ride, reserve the 10-minute A Taste of Station Square tour. The leisurely ride will take you through Station Square.
If you're up for something a bit longer, consider the Moonlight River Ride. A horse will lead your carriage for the 25-minute ride to the Duquesne Incline and back.
However, for the ultimate carriage ride, make a reservation for the Downtown Tour.
If you've been to downtown Pittsburgh during special holiday events, including the annual Light Up Night Celebration, you've likely seen Mike's Carriage Service in action. Horse drawn carriage rides are often offered for free that evening.
Station Square carriage rides are available annually, usually on Friday and Saturday evenings, from May through October. However, the Downtown Pittsburgh tour is offered all-year around, and you can reserve any day of the week.
