Most of us would probably head out on a road trip any time of the year. However, summertime is just made for road trips. We can drive with the windows down and the music up, ready for whatever comes our way. Visit six incredible summer spots in Pennsylvania on this road trip that's just made for summer.
Here's the Google Map for the road trip, which you can customize for your own needs and timeframe. Whatever you do, leave your worries at home, and have fun.
1. Colton Point State Park – Wellsboro
Let's start our epic summer road trip at Colton Point State Park. You might even want to bring along a picnic. The park - along with nearby Leonard Harrison State Park - offers sweeping views of Pine Creek Gorge, more commonly known as The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Even if you don't feel like hiking, you can stop by one of the scenic vistas to admire the beautiful views of the natural wonder. If you are up for a hike that's challenging, follow the three-mile difficult Turkey Path Trail. It takes you to the bottom of the canyon and back up again. The one-mile Rim Trail, on the other hand, is easy and leads to even more gorgeous views of the gorge. Here's the official website of Colton Point State Park.
2. Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat – Williamsport
Our next stop promises relaxation and even more gorgeous views of the Pennsylvania landscape. Make reservations for a trip on the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat in Williamsport. The paddleboat will take you on a leisurely cruise along the Susquehanna River. In addition to daily river cruises that allow you to sightsee, the riverboat also sets sail on special cruises, such as the wine, brunch, and kids cruises. Check out the schedule, and make reservations on the official website of Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat.
3. Bloomsburg
Small towns are the perfect place to spend a summer day, because there's always something going on. Our next stop takes us to Bloomsburg, where you might want to check into one of its charming hotels or enchanting B&Bs for a welcomed night's rest. Spend the evening exploring downtown, checking out the shops, and dining at one of the restaurants. Head over to the official website of the Town of Bloomsburg for a list of all restaurants, shops, and more.
4. Bushkill Falls – Bushkill
After a good night's sleep, make your way to Bushkill Falls, popularly known as the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania. Wear comfy shoes, especially if you want to see all eight of the park's waterfalls, which sit along two miles of hiking trails. (There is an admission fee to enter the park.) Bushkill Falls also features a full menu of other activities, including paddleboating, mining for gemstones, and a playground for the kiddos. Plan your visit on the official website of Bushkill Falls.
5. Nay Aug Park – Scranton
How about another waterfall and a treehouse? Those are two highlights that await at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. A scenic path leads to both the treehouse and the waterfall. If you're visiting on a hot day, you might even want to take a dip in the park's pool. (Please note, the swim complex is currently closed due to renovations.) Consider bringing a picnic along for a picture-perfect afternoon at the park. Find more information on the official website Nay Aug Park.
6. Main Street – Wellsboro
