St. Helens is one small town that knows how to celebrate Halloween in style; in fact, it just may be the best Halloween town in Oregon! Every year, this magical community transforms into a terrifying Halloween wonderland. The town, which was made famous by Disney's Halloweentown, comes alive during the epic, month-long Spirit of Halloweentown celebration. Take a look:
The annual Spirit of Halloweentown celebration takes place during the month of October in St. Helens, Oregon and ranks supreme as the best place to celebrate Halloween in Oregon.
The town embraces the holiday spirit with costume contests, haunted houses, ghost walks, spooky adventures, and more.
Halloweentown (1998) is a classic Disney Channel Original Movie. The film focuses on the adventures of Marnie Cromwell (Kimberly J. Brown), a young teenager who is fascinated with all things magical.
Halloweentown and parts of the movie Twilight (2008) were filmed in St. Helens.
St. Helens goes all out during the month-long celebration.
They even recreate the giant pumpkin from Halloweentown in front of City Hall.
The city is open 24/7 and is filled with plenty of opportunities for spooky photo ops and Halloween fun. There are so many events here that you could spend a week and still not see them all — hence, the reason St. Helens gives you a month to take it all in.
As far as fall events in Oregon go, Halloweentown belongs on the bucket list. Among the many daily events taking place all month long, a nightly ghost walk travels through downtown.
Watch for the ghoulish storefront apparitions and special effects!
The Mystery Manor Kids Haunted House is open daily.
On weekdays it is open 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Weekend hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There is also a creepy haunted house for adults.
The Walk to the Underworld is an eerie event along the waterfront. You'll be guided past giant rocks and magical sea creatures.
Although entry into Halloweentown is free, may of the special events require an admission fee. There is a list at this link of every single fang-tastic thing you can possible do in Halloweentown, including how much if costs (if anything at all) and at what times its available.
There is truly no better (or creepier) place to be in Oregon this Halloween.
