But at Peters' Cranberries in Oregon, the cranberry is the star of the show all year long.
This family-owned farm has been growing cranberries on the Southern Oregon Coast since 1966, farming their own bogs and supplying freshly harvested berries for local growers.
In 1966, Roy Peters purchased the land and began farming cranberries. Over the years, more acres were added, along with a cranberry cleaning facility. Today, this family-run cranberry farm in Oregon spans 50 acres, and handles fruit for dozens of growers during harvest.
Their bounty is primarily sold to be pressed into juice and bottled under the R.W. Knudsen Family label, which you've probably seen at the shelves of your local grocery store!
The operation, which is owned today by Peters' granddaughter Sara Osborne, uses old-school techniques for growing and cultivating the berries, utilizing a cranberry beater to carefully harvest the bogs.
A family operation through and through, Peters' Cranberries is teaching the youngest generation the tricks of the trade.
