3. Lyle
Go across state lines and spend your day on the river fishing or enjoy the sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge from the many trails located in the area around Lyle, Washington.
4. Bagby Hot Springs
Bagby is so worth the two-hour drive to get there from PDX. Plan on a couple hours to soak and relax; we promise, all your cares and stresses will melt away in this glorious OR hot springs!

Wine country is always a great place to head for a day trip. Newberg has loads of small town charm as well, and you could spend your day wandering the small downtown and taking in a movie at its theater before checking out the wineries. 6. McMinnville
Many wineries and a cute downtown await you in McMinnville, Oregon. Plane lovers will enjoy the Evergreen Air and Space Museum, and if you have your kids with you, head over to the amazing adjoined Wings and Waves Waterpark for a day to remember.
7. Carlton
If you haven't had enough of wine country (and really, is that even possible?!), Carlton is a great stop to soak more of the scenery up. This small town is loaded with charm and wineries to make your afternoon great. Make it a standalone trip, or combine the city with another from wine country and tour the most appealing wineries and vineyards to you.

Hood River is one of our favorite places in the state; an immensely beautiful region nestled in the shadow of majestic Mount Hood. Hood River is home to some of the PNW’s best outdoor recreation, breweries and wineries, and farm-to-table dining, and really is all-around PNW superstar!
9. Opal Pool
When the days get hot, finding a lovely place to cool off is top priority. Skip the neighborhood swimming holes and instead head to this epic swim spot for a day trip you will remember forever. Opal Pool is every bit as beautiful as it sounds.
10. Drift Creek Falls
If you are not height adverse, head to the coast for this amazing hike that includes a slightly terrifying suspension bridge. Located near Lincoln City, this trip is a must for adventure seekers and perfect for a family adventure in nature. You'll have the most Oregon day ever hiking at Drift Creek Falls!
