1. Ollie's Restaurant - 4070 Southwest Boulevard, Tulsa
Start you train-themed road trip at Ollie’s Station - an iconic Route 66 restaurant in Tulsa that serves all the classic down-home favorites. It’s located at the Red Fork Corner – a long-standing corner where Route 66 merged with the oil and railroad industries. Ollie’s Station is themed from top to bottom with trains, railroad memorabilia and everything locomotive.
2. Southern Belle - 821 Highway 59 North, Heavener
After a good 2+ hour drive, you'll arrive in the small town of Heavener. Here you'll find a great spot for lunch at Southern Belle - a restaurant housed in an old railway car. Southern Belle is not only a nostalgic, unique place to dine, but the food is heavenly. You’ll find some of the best chicken dinners in the state, along with the most delicious homemade desserts. Hop onboard the Southern Belle for a dining experience to remember!
3. Rebel Hills Guest Ranch - HC 83 Box 848, Antlers
Now that your belly is full, drive to Rebel Hills Guest Ranch and stay overnight in a 1911 renovated, Victorian train car. Rebel Hill Guest Ranch is a working horse ranch surrounded by over 500 acres of secluded land filled with ponds, lakes, trails and horses. The 80-foot train, Rebel Hill Express, welcomes visitors with a friendly, "Welcome Aboard" and it's a one-of-a-kind overnight experience.
4. Oklahoma Railway Museum - 3400 Northeast Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City
After a restful night sleep at the ranch, you'll head to Oklahoma City to the Oklahoma Railway Museum. Visit the museum, view passengers cars, freight cars and even a steam engine before taking a 40-minute train ride. The museum is free but tickets must be purchased for the train rides. The train rides run the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, April-August. There are more special event train rides throughout the year, so check the schedule before going.
5. Heartland Flyer Amtrak Train - 100 Southeast Gaylord Boulevard, Oklahoma City
Oklahoma’s Amtrak train is the Heartland Flyer and takes passengers from Oklahoma City to Fort Worth, Texas, with multiple stops along the way. You can take this epic train ride and return the same day, or spend the night in Fort Worth and return the following day. Either way, this train ride will be unforgettable.
