Ever wondered, "How far is Tulsa from Pawhuska?" Pawhuska is a small town in northeastern Oklahoma that's just an hour's drive from Tulsa and about 2 hours from Oklahoma City. Over the last 5 years, The Pioneer Woman (a.k.a. Ree Drummond) has really made Pawhuska a destination town in Oklahoma with her business empire in the historic, downtown district but that's not all that Pawhuska has to offer. There is so much beauty to explore and charming places to visit, making it the perfect Oklahoma day trip destination.
If you're in need of a place to escape the city life, head to Pawhuska, a small town boasting charm, exquisite Oklahoma beauty, and quaint shopping. The first place we recommend you check out is the famous Pioneer Woman Mercantile.
The Merc is a two-story building that houses a restaurant, shop, and bakery. Over 6,000 people visit this place a day, so plan on waiting for a table.
The food here is worth the drive alone to Pawhuska. If you know about The Pioneer Woman then you know her food (and recipes) are hard to beat.
Right down the block from The Merc is another food option owned by the Drummond family - P-Town Pizza. Here, you can dine indoors or outside on the patio and enjoy tasty pizza and drinks.
But that's not all the Drummond family owns in town. They also have Charlie's Sweet Shop with candy, ice cream, and other sweets. Plus, they have a ranch that you can tour and a hotel in town.
If you enjoy shopping for vintage items, be sure and stop by Buckin' Flamingo. They have a variety of turquoise jewelry, decor, and unique items.
If that isn't enough to keep you busy all day, we have plenty of outdoor beauty to add to your list of places to visit. A drive through the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is so peaceful and beautiful.
Osage Hills State Park is another gorgeous setting to enjoy all that nature has to offer.
...and if you're looking for a little stomach-dropping fun, visit the Swinging Bridge in town.
The second oldest operating theater in Oklahoma, Constantine Theater, is also located in Pawhuska and still shows movies from time to time. It's a fun throwback and worthy of a visit.
