Nestled in southeastern Oklahoma is McCurtain County - home to Broken Bow, Hochatown, Beavers Bend State Park and Hochatown State Park. It's filled with picturesque towns with lakes, rivers, streams, mountains, and state parks. You can pretty much find any kind of outdoor recreation within a few mile radius and it's every nature lover's dream come true.
Broken Bow and the nearby town of Hochatown are nestled in southeast Oklahoma near the foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains – a sub-range of the breathtaking Ouachita Mountains. The two towns are so close to each other, it's hard to tell when you leave one and enter the other.
The towns are surrounded by exquisite beauty, scenic views, and lush landscape. They are a prime destination spot in the Sooner State filled with outdoor recreation that will keep you busy from sunup to sundown.
There are more rivers, creeks, and lakes in the area than in most other parts of the state. It's truly a magical place with great weather, epic views, and a variety of outdoor recreation.
One of the best ways to experience nature is camping. You can pitch a tent in Mountain Fork Park right along the beautiful river or in Broken Bow State Park.
Golfers will enjoy the beautiful 18-hole golf course at Cedar Creek in the state park.
Choose from one of six trails that will take you through the beautiful Beavers Bend State Park. There's a trail for every skill level, so enjoy an afternoon taking in the fresh air.
Visitors can also rent canoes, kayaks or tubes and enjoy time out on the lake or take a ride down one of the rivers in the area.
The area is loaded with many great fishing spots. Cast a line in the lake or try out fly fishing in the nearby rivers.
There are over 1,300 acres of dreamy landscape that will make you feel like you stepped into a fairy tale.
One of my favorite things to do is take a sunset cruise around the lake and soak in all the stunning scenery.
