Many times in Oklahoma, the big cities get the spotlight when it comes to amazing restaurants in the state, but this time we went to small town America. Here are 14 places to put on your list that you'll definitely want to visit for some of the best food in Oklahoma:
1. Stables Cafe: Guthrie
Stables has become a staple in the life of Guthrians. It's all about great food at a reasonable price, good service by an experienced staff and a nostalgic look back to the past. There is a little bit of everything on the menu at the Stables. They serve "Texas style bar-b-que" served with the best homemade Fried Onion Rings you've ever tasted.
2. Tiffany's Restaurant: Noble
Tiffany's opened in 2000 and has been family owned and operated ever since. They offer great food at reasonable prices. All menu items are under $8.95. Try the pork chops and homemade mac n cheese for a delicious meal.
3. Meers Store & Restaurant: Meers
All that remains of the town of Meers now is the world renowned family restaurant of the same name and a few residents. The Meers Store and Restaurant has became famous for the Meersburger, a 7" diameter burger made exclusively from prize winning Texas Longhorn beef raised on the family's own ranch. Beef that is actually lower in cholesterol than chicken. Meers serves a delicious selection of steaks, barbecue, home-baked bread and desserts, including homemade ice cream.
4. Jake's Rib: Chickasha
Serving Chickasha for over 30 years, Jake's has become a local favorite for ribs, steaks, pulled pork sandwiches and barbecue. The loaded baked potato is a must-have side.
5. Corner Cafe: Blackwell
(Note: as of September 2nd, 2020, Corner Cafe is permanently closed). This cafe is a family-style restaurant that serves hearty portions of American food. They offer homestyle favorites like their award winning Chicken Fried Steak or their build your own Corner Omelet. They have developed a reputation within the community of Blackwell by serving fresh and always good food.
6. Clanton's Cafe: Vinita
Clanton's has been a family tradition in Vinita, Oklahoma since 1927. It is the oldest continually owned family restaurant on Route 66 in the state of Oklahoma. They serve all the staple breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items and you won't be disappointed with anything you order. Enjoy southern hospitality while dining at Clanton's Cafe.
7. Big Dan's Steakhouse: Woodward
(Note: as of September 2nd, 2020, Big Dan's is permanently closed). Prime rib sandwiches, chicken, fish and steak are just a few of the mouthwatering items on the menu at Big Dan's Steakhouse. They also have an incredible salad bar that could be a meal itself.
8. Blue Cow Cafe & Store: Sterling
A family restaurant in Sterling with fresh food and a comfortable atmosphere describes Blue Cow. The menu is creative and offers many types of burgers and don't forget the seasoned fries that are perfectly seasoned.
9. Grateful Head Pizza Oven & Tap Room: Broken Bow
Fresh pizza, wings, beer on tap and live music will keep you coming back to Grateful Head in Broken Bow. They also have a nice patio for dining and a great atmosphere.
10. Hen House: Okemah
Look for the red roof house in Okemah for a quaint atmosphere and tasty meal. Make sure you save room for one of the homemade desserts. Hours are Monday-Friday from 11am-2pm.
11. Libby's Cafe: Goldsby
Libby's Cafe is a family-owned & operated full-service bar and restaurant. They offer a wide variety of foods from their famous all-you-can-eat catfish to certified Black Angus steaks. And you can't miss out on the chicken fried steaks covered in homemade gravy.
12. Wild Country Meats & Grill: Hominy
Wild Country is a custom processing plant, an old-fashioned meat market, and a lunch & dinner grill. This restaurant offers a unique dining experience - you can enjoy your meal inside the walls of a bullwagon. Order a juicy burger and add Fritos, cheese and chili to make it a Frito pie burger. Sides include baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad and tabouli.
13. The Old Plantation Restaurant: Medicine Park
Located in Medicine Park's historic hotel, The Old Plantation is open daily and serves steaks and seafood, as well as a great selection of sandwiches, salads and appetizers.
14. Back Door Steakhouse: Blair
The Back Door Steakhouse is known for its outstanding prime cut, aged Angus steaks and rustic western environment in southwest Oklahoma. From onion rings to steaks to chicken, you can find it all at Back Door.
