There are several within an hour or so and they each have their own unique features and charm, but if you head north to the town of Yellow Springs, you'll feel as if you've stumbled upon something particularly special. And you have, because Yellow Springs is anything but ordinary and has all the makings of the perfect day trip from Cincinnati.
Yellow Springs, Ohio is known as "Everyone's Favorite Place." It's the quintessential small town, but with serious cool factor.
Downtown Yellow Springs is vibrant, charming, and extremely welcoming. You'll feel right at home strolling down the beautiful streets, past boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and coffee shops.
The town holds many events throughout the year, celebrating the beauty of the area and its creative local population.
One of the most popular events is Street Fair, which is held twice a year. The next one is coming up on October 14th and the streets will be filled with over 200 vendors selling handcrafted arts, crafts, and food. It's the perfect time to visit this lively town!
Yellow Springs is also a cultural mecca, tucked away in rural Ohio.
The town's calendar is filled with concerts, art openings, and performances. It welcomes a variety of artists and appreciates the creative nature they bring with them.
One of the most popular attractions near Yellow Springs can be found just 3 miles east of town in Clifton.
The historic Clifton Mill, with an operating water-powered grist mill & restaurant, is a stunning property and a must-see if you are in the area.
For a small town, Yellow Springs has a surprisingly large number of delicious restaurants.
One of the favorites, Ellie's Restaurant and Bakery, can be found in the lobby level of the Mills Park Hotel. This gorgeous Victorian-style home houses the quaint restaurant that serves homemade baked goods and southern-inspired comfort foods for breakfast and lunch.
After you've experienced the liveliness of downtown, head out into the country - or just down the road - to Young's Dairy.
The Dairy is one of the best family destinations in the area and there are always fun things to do and see. And, of course, you have to check out the restaurant here as well for some cheese curds and homemade ice cream.
If you're a nature-lover and outdoor enthusiast, then Yellow Springs has something for you, as well.
The town is located right along the Little Miami Bike Trail, which means technically you could ride your bike along the trail, all the way from Cincinnati! If that seems like too much of a challenge, then perhaps just take your bike along and enjoy this portion of the trail once you get there.
Picturesque John Bryan State Park is also nearby, and it's an ideal spot for an afternoon hike.
After breakfast at Ellie's and ice cream at Young's, you're going to need walk off some of that energy! Head to this historic area for beautiful scenery and hiking trails.
Yellow Springs is truly everyone's favorite place.
