A tasty meal and delicious wine is the perfect prelude to your journey to Mohican State Park, and Lyons Falls, in Loudonville. You’ll have a short hike to the cascade, so make sure you bring or wear hiking boots or comfortable shoes.
Spanning more than 1,100 acres, Mohican State Park boasts numerous hiking trails, including the two-mile Lyons Falls Trail. The trail is rated between moderate and difficult, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, so be prepared for a bit of a challenge.
The trail meanders through wooded areas, along Clear Fork Gorge, and leads to two Lyons Falls – Big and Little. Big Lyons Falls, the first waterfall you’ll come to, drops a spectacular 80 feet, and you can even walk behind it.
Little Lyons Falls is another natural wonder, albeit quite a bit smaller than its larger namesake, on the loop trail. The waterfall tumbles down 25 feet, and you can view it from above.
