Our trip begins in one of Ohio's most dazzling natural gems: Hocking Hills State Park.
A perennial favorite for outdoor recreation of all kinds, Hocking Hills is also one of the most resplendent regions in the Midwest.
Drive through the beautiful hills and valleys of Hocking Hills along the eponymous Hocking Hills Scenic Byway. This 26-mile road offers the prime route for exploring all that this scenery-packed corner of Ohio has to offer.
Next, we're headed up toward central Ohio, to one of the most beautiful college towns in America: Gambier.
Home to Kenyon College, Gambier is peak Buckeye State beauty, with the bucolic hills and idyllic farms dotting the landscape around this college town.
If you're looking to stop and grab a bite to eat, there are lots of places around Kenyon College.
Sit down and enjoy lunch at Kenyon Inn and Restaurant, and soak up the beautiful scenery! Of course, if you wanted to turn this day trip into a multi-day road trip, you could book a night at this well-appointed inn, as well.
The bucolic beauty of Ohio's Amish Country truly is unrivaled. Stretched across multiple counties and small rural towns in east-central Ohio, you’ll find one of the state’s most heartwarming attractions: Amish Country.
The perfect place for a slow, relaxing drive (especially if you find yourself behind a horse-drawn buggy!), you'll also find lots of opportunities to stop and enjoy a bit of the local culture. End of the Commons General Store is a perennial favorite in Amish Country; it's the oldest general store in the Buckeye State, in fact!
While Ohio may be best-known for its rolling hills and countryside, the southern region of the state is river territory. And Marietta just might be Ohio's most darling river town.
As the oldest town in Ohio (and the first permanent settlement of the Northwest Territory!), Marietta is a delightful mix of beautiful river views and charming historic buildings.
The town is full of winsome bridges, like the Williamstown Bridge (pictured) and the smaller Harmar Railroad Bridge, which is also part of a three-mile trail that makes for a great way to stretch your legs after a day of driving!
The Buckeye State is a beautiful, beautiful state. Take this scenic road trip adventure anytime of year, and be prepared to fall head-over-heels in love with Ohio!
Well, what do you think? See the Buckeye State like never before when you embark upon this scenic road trip in Ohio. We promise, this adventure is sure to give you a whole new appreciation for our swoon-worthy state!
