These small towns are hiding treasures that everyone should know about, but not many people do. You can always go to the regular big city places or food chains but there's nothing quite like uncovering a hidden gem in a tiny community that is owned and operated by people who give a personal touch to a great dining experience. Home cooked meals and delicious family recipes can be found at these five small town restaurants that you need to check out.
1. Rolette - The Village Cafe
The small town of Rolette has a cafe that may look somewhat simple on the outside, but the food they have is nothing short of amazing. Everything from pasta to sandwiches can be found at the Village Cafe, and you are sure to find something you'll enjoy on their menu. There are all the good classics everyone loves served in the best of ways. Yum!
2. Larimore - DB's The Station
This place is worth going out of your way to visit even if you aren't near Larimore. Their burgers and pizzas are to die for. The rest of their menu is worth mentioning, too. You'll leave this place feeling more than satisfied and wanting to go right back the next day.
3. St. Anthony - Rusty's Saloon and Grill
The itty bitty town of St. Anthony has a relatively new spot that is becoming bigger and bigger, and for good reason. Even though the town itself is fairly empty, this place is a must-visit for anyone, even if it is a bit out of the way. The fun atmosphere and homemade meals are excellent and hard to beat. Check it out for yourself.
4. Hague - Hague Cafe
This cafe should be on your food bucket list. If you're looking for genuine, home cooked, food most North Dakotans grew up with - of German-Russian origin - then this is the place, hands down. It gives a unique small town experience with downright delicious food to boot.
5. Fairfield - Four Corners Cafe
If German food isn't quite to your taste, then the town of Fairfield has a great restaurant to offer. Four Corners Cafe makes and serves Ukrainian food that is second to none in the state. Plus they serve tons of other options that are equally tasty and well made.
There are a lot of small towns in North Dakota, so which ones are hiding a treasure trove of good eats that we didn't include on this list?
