You can enjoy sunrises and sunsets from this view in the lovely town of Kenmare, North Dakota. Located right in between two lakes, alongside a river, and among beautiful prairie hills, this spot is perfect for the nature lover in you.
Kenmare's scenery is great, and the town is quite nice, too. With a population of just over 1,000 residents, its quiet and full of small-town charm and history.
One of the main reasons it's so great for outdoor enthusiasts is that the bodies of water around it are part of a large National Wildlife Refuge. The protected land is the home to thousands of animals, especially waterfowl, and it keeps the natural beauty of the prairie intact.
There are trails and even an auto tour route you can take to experience the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge. Hike through the hills and catch amazing views of the lakes throughout the year.
People even enjoy snowshoeing the trails in the wintertime. Come early spring and later in the fall, thousands of migratory birds stop by here including geese, swans, and more.
Along with the large wildlife refuge, Kenmare also has a fantastic windmill park with a real historic Danish windmill and other great features. It's great for a picnic on a sunny day or a quiet stroll.
With the breathtaking landscapes, plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities, great community, and overall charming feel, Kenmare is nothing short of perfect for someone who loves nature, small towns, or both and then some.
