Off the beaten path, hidden gem, hole in the wall - however you may classify them, these five restaurants might be a little out of the way, but they are totally worth visiting. If you love small town places with big taste, then these are made for you. Delicious food and that family-owned touch you won't find at any chain are what make these restaurants must-visits.
1. TraXside Cafe - Enderlin
You can't go wrong with a home cooked meal so you definitely can't go wrong with TraXside Cafe. Home cooked everything, including pies, and trust me, their pies are AMAZING. Good North Dakota cooking is what they're all about and you'll love it.
TraXside Cafe is located at 306 Railway Street in Enderlin, which is approximately 45 minutes southeast of Valley City.
2. Sportsman's Den - Zeeland
In a town with just 86 people, Sportsman's Den is a hidden gem. Regardless if you are a hunter or not, you'll fit right in and love the food here. They rotate a lot of specials so go more than once, you'll always find something delicious you're craving!
Sportsman's Den can be found at 209 S Main Street in Zeeland, which is in the south central part of North Dakota.
3. The Home Plate Cafe - Fredonia
Be greeted by smiling faces and the rich smell of food at this lovely cafe in Fredonia - a town with only 46 people. Even if you've never heard of it before, you have got to try it if you get the chance. All the good meals you grew up with can be found here and you'll want to come back again and again.
Head over to The Home Plate Cafe at 104 Main Street in Fredonia, which is about an hour southwest of Jamestown.
4. The Chocolate Shop - Bisbee
Don't be too confused, The Chocolate Shop has a lot more than chocolate! But as far as sweet stuff goes, their pies are awesome and should not be missed. The rest of their menu is superb as well, you'll love it! Try it out some time, and you won't regret it.
You can find The Chocolate Shop at 208 Main Street in Bisbee. If you don't know where Bisbee is, it is about an hour northwest of Devils Lake.
5. Carol's Kitchen - Robinson
Good service and good food - that is what this place is about. For a town as small as Robinson, with a population of about 35, you wouldn't expect to find much more than your average small town bar and grill, but this one stands out. Carol's Kitchen serves the tasty stuff that you know and love.
Carol's Kitchen is located at 205 Main Street in Robinson, which is about halfway between Bismarck and Jamestown and a bit north.
