People's opinions on their enjoyment of winter in North Dakota certainly vary, but whether you like it or not, winter will happen! There is a place in the state that has just started a tradition of embracing the chill of winter, and that place is actually ND's biggest city, Fargo. Early this year, they held the first ever "Frostival," with the motto "Embrace the Cool of Winter." And they don't mean just the temperature.
With outdoor activities within the city, they turned the place into a winter wonderland of fun by taking advantage of all the snow and chill of winter has to offer. In January 2017 they are holding the second annual Frostival, and you do not want to miss it.
As the sun sets over downtown Fargo on January 27th...
Starting at 6:00 PM sharp is the opening kick-off to the second annual Frostival!
At the kick-off, you can enjoy live music, carriage rides, food and drink vendors, and plenty of fire pits to warm yourself around. Not to mention make s'mores over! It's a fun way to start getting used to the outdoor chill before all the following events take place in over the next day.
As soon as Saturday starts, it's time for the games!
Over the course of the whole day there is a slew of winter activities anyone can take part in, including cross country skiing, snow golfing, snow volleyball, snow softball... snow everything! And there is a run, sled parade, geocaching... the list goes on. There's a little something for everyone.
Even the local news and radio stations get in on the fun during the Cardboard Sled Races.
There is even "Snowga" taking place.

Snow yoga, or snowga, is another activity that is a little bizarre (and chilly) yet totally fun.
In the middle of the day you can fill up for lunch during the chili feed, and spend some time warming up before heading out into the snow again for more of the day's enjoyment.
Kids can get in on all the fun, too.
There is snow fort contests, sledding, snowman building, and a Kid Winter Boot Camp with all of that and much, much more. These are memories being made they'll never forget, and they'll love it!
Closer to the end of the day, ice skating is on the schedule and ending with a Frozen Fantasy Family Dance.
The second annual Frostival is gearing up to be an absolute blast, so be sure to plan to attend in January.
