We've seen many photographs of North Dakota's cities, landmarks, natural beauty, and places. With just the right atmosphere, one picture can look very different from another of the exact same place, sometimes almost as if they were taken in another world. These masterful photographers captured these places here in ND just right, and the photos look surreal.
1. Shadows of the badlands in Theodore Roosevelt National Park under the dark yet colorful sky creates an awesome effect here.
2. This may look like an alien city interior, but it's actually taken in the Legislative Hall in Bismarck.
3. Not quite a shot of a cloudy nebula light years away in the universe, but actually a shot of the northern lights that appear over Valley City.
4. Robot invasion? Nope - an interesting character made of tin out near Edgeley.
5. This long exposure nighttime shot of prairie grasses and plants in western North Dakota almost looks like a seabed at the bottom of a deep, dark ocean.
6. Can you guess where this was taken? It isn't Mars - this was taken on a foggy morning in Minot.
7. Sun dogs on a chilly morning near Fargo almost look like they outline a huge nearby planet that could be seen from another planet's glistening surface.
8. Possibly a shot taken on top of Buck Hill, or is it the dusty shot of some far away moon's surface?
