When it comes to summer fun, setting sail is top on the list, but not all of us are lucky enough to have our own private boat (or friends with a boat) who can take us to uncharted islands, sand bars, and unique destinations around the North Carolina coast. Enter Tiki Tours, a tour company with a fleet of two watercraft ready to take you on a uniquely fun experience.
Located in Topsail Island, Tiki Tours take passengers on a tour around the intracoastal and waterway. Pictured above, the "Tiki Queen Paddlewheel" can hold up to 46 passengers and scheduled for private events, cruises, weddings, nature tours. The Tiki Queen is also one of the original paddle-boats used at Cedar Point on the Sandusky River in Ohio for tours.
The "tiki time" themed cruise transports you through the intracoastal and sand bars surrounding Topsail. Tiki Captain Captain James Ross narrates the journey. Having grown up in Topsail, he shares unique history and knows the waterways like the back of his hand. It's almost second nature for him to spot and identify wildlife, an aspect to the cruise many love.
The cruises are adequately suited for all types of riders. Easy on and off allows for grandparents to enjoy the voyage with little ones. Children love the nature cruises and experience that comes with venturing on the Tiki.
Each Tiki boat available offers something different. There's the 2-hour sunset tour on board the Tiki Queen. The leisure cruise takes you along the intracoastal where all you'll have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the sunset.
Other cruises include two-hour Topsail Island history and nature tour along the southern end of Topsail Island and Banks Channel.
For those always looking for the best seashells, the private, chartered shelling tour is one of the most popular offered. The tiki time pontoon takes passengers to uninhabited Lea-Hutaff Island, known for its great shelling and shallow, bright blue water.
Exploring Topsail, learning history, shelling on an uninhabited island, catching sunset from a unique pontoon boat - this is all possible in Tiki Time fashion. Prices vary but both the sunset and history/nature tour at $20 per person....a pretty reasonable price for the experience!

How cool is this? Sounds like a great addition to any beach trip. Have you done a tiki cruise before?
