Ready to take a little road trip and end up exploring three swinging bridges in North Carolina? Swinging bridges are so much fun. And the fact that no two are like and each one inspires a little thrill each time we cross doesn't hurt either. Below are three of our favorite swinging bridges in the state, They're all close enough to one another to be able to explore them all in one day!

1. Andy Cove Trail - Brevard
The adventure starts just outside of Brevard on the Andy Cove Trail. The bridge crosses a tributary of the Davidson River. The 30-foot suspension bridge is surrounded by mountain laurel, which makes this trail absolutely stunning all year long.
The easy loop trail is only 0.7-miles long with an elevation change over the entire trail of 127 feet. You should be able to complete this hike in about 30 minutes.

2. Grandfather Trail Loop - Linville
There are several trails up on Grandfather Mountain but only one of them will lead you under the famous swinging bridge.
It's a relatively steep trail that begins at the Black Rock Parking Area, which is the final parking lot on the winding road just before you reach the summit of Grandfather Mountain.
The trail winds up a very steep slope and ends at the foot of the steps that lead up to the swinging bridge. Along the way, catch glimpses of the underside of the bridge and all of the visitors walking over it as you wander below.

3. Cox Mountain Trail - Hillsborough
Finally, we'll head to Eno River State Park near Durham to cross the super long suspension bridge on the Cox Mountain Trail, which begins at the Fews Ford Picnic Area in the state park.
The bridge is located right at beginning and end of the 3.8-mile looped trail. You'll actually cross it twice; once at the beginning of the hike and then again at the end.
The entire trail is accessible year-round but since the bridge is at the beginning, you'll have the option to just explore this very long suspension bridge that crosses the Eno. Learn more about the trail from All Trails.
Hiking is always a fun adventure. But adding some swinging bridges in North Carolina always kicks the experience up a notch! Think you'll be taking this fun little road trip in the coming year? Let us know in the comments!
