After a long week of working it's pretty easy to get excited about getting out of town and exploring a new place over the weekend. 1. Yadkin Valley Wine Region
Relax and unwind in the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains while sipping on wine from local vineyards in the Yadkin Valley Wine Region of North Carolina. There you'll find more than four dozen wineries and vineyards in the area with selections that range from sweet blends to Italian varietals.
2. Asheville
Whether you enjoy drinking craft beer, trying new cuisine, hiking and camping — or just like spending time in the mountains, the eclectic town of Asheville has it all.
3. Charlotte
If you're looking for somewhere with a vibrant nightlife to let loose, Charlotte's the place to go. With countless watering holes in Uptown, plus more than enough craft breweries, a speakeasy and cocktail parlor — there's no shortage of places to have a good time in the Queen City.
4. Outer Banks
A little fresh air, sunshine and ocean waves never hurt anybody — combine that with hang gliding lessons and deep sea fishing and you've got the makings of a pretty spectacular weekend.
5. Raleigh
Visit the state capital to get your culture fix at one of the city's many museums or take in a show at the symphony. Foodies will also enjoy the food scene with the large variety of restaurants in the area. To complete your weekend in Raleigh catch a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game.
6. Wilmington
Pair pristine sandy beaches with lots of history and a variety of outdoor adventures and you've got the perfect escape in the coastal town of Wilmington.
7. Boone
For the ultimate mountain weekend consider visiting Boone, where you'll find everything from hiking trails and ski resorts to breweries, museums and antique shopping.
