If you don't have the pleasure to spend a lot of time exploring the 322 miles of North Carolina's coastline, then perhaps you've never happened upon a hidden gem of a tiny town nestled along the northern Outer Banks between the Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. This small town in North Carolina is perfect for a day (or longer) of exploration to discover all it has to offer.
The newest town in the Outer Banks was incorporated just 20 years ago, in 2002. Today, only about 400 residents claim Duck as a year-round residence.
But during the summer season, the population of Duck can swell to as much as 20,000 people — and the town can absolutely accommodate the increase!
With attractions, nature parks, shopping, and an extra long beach, Duck is poised to make any vacation, however long or short, one you won't soon forget.
Duck's Town Park includes a boardwalk that's nearly a mile long, including a huge stretch of locally owned shops, boutiques, galleries, eateries, and more.
Visitors can spend an entire day just exploring the unique shopping available at The Waterfront Shops on the boardwalk in Duck.
At 11 acres strong, Duck Town Park also offers walking trails that traverse a maritime forest and a willow swamp.
Events are held all season long at Town Park, including concerts, movies, and festivals. The space is treated as a beautifully green extension of Duck's gorgeous beach.
Nestled along the Atlantic in the Town of Duck is seven miles of some of the most beautiful beaches on the entire East Coast.
Accesses are located all along the beachfront, too.
Want to spend more than a day in Duck? We'd highly recommend it! Check out the famous and much loved Sanderling Resort and all of the family-friend amenities it offers visitors.
Dining options in Duck are scattered in every direction. Most have outdoor seating and incredible views and food. Seen here, the outdoor patio of the Lifesaving Station.
Duck's Cottage Cafe is a must-visit coffee and sweets shop that also sells items like books and local crafts.
Pop in for a hot brew, a cold brew, a latte, frappuccino, and much more while you browse the shelves for something else you can't live without.
From the town's famous boardwalk and its shops, boutiques, and cafes to Duck Town Park and a seven-mile beach that's pristine if nothing at all, Duck, North Carolina is tiny town we'd recommend every North Carolinian visit at least once.
