The driving portion of this road trip will take a little over two hours from the first pie shop to the last. Don't forget to add in time to browse, order, and eat the pies you choose, but it's possible to make it to all seven pie shops in one day if you start early and move along quickly. Good luck!
1. Hallock's Cider Mill; Laurel
Hallock's Cider Mill on the North Fork is a great place to start. This pie shop is known for its mini-pies so buy one to enjoy now, and choose a different one to bring home and eat later.
2. Briermere Farms; Riverhead
Briermere Farms' pies consistently appear at the top of every list of best pies on Long Island. These pies are made from scratch on-site, and most of the fruit used in the pies is grown right in the fields outside.
3. Alpine Pastry Shop; Smithtown
Alpine Pastry Shop is family owned and operated and offers a wide variety of excellent pastries. This road trip is in search of pies and this spot's pies are spectacular, but that doesn't mean you can't buy and try other things too!
4. Hometown Bakeshop; Centerport
Hometown Bakeshop in Centerport offers both sweet and savory baked goods and it's a great place to stop for lunch if, for some odd reason, you need a break from pie. However, be sure to get one of this spot's incredible pies for dessert.
5. Kerber's Farm; Huntington
Kerber's Farm has been serving Long Island since 1941! In addition to pie, Kerber's also offers cooking lessons for all ages, a summer camp program, and accommodations if you want to stay at the farm. If you fall in love with Kerber's pies, you can also have them shipped to your friends... or yourself.
6. Jericho Cider Mill; Muttontown
This shop is even older than Kerber's Farm; it existed as far back as the early 1800s. However, Jericho Cider Mill became famous for its pies after it started selling them in 1968. The pies Jericho Cider Mill sells today are still made using the original family recipe.
7. Youngs Farm; Old Brookville
Youngs Farm is also quite old; it was founded in 1893. Today, it's a certified organic farm run by the fourth and fifth generation of the same family. Youngs offers great produce and even better pies, and it's a great place to enjoy your seventh pie of the day.
Are you full of pie yet? After visiting these seven incredible pie shops, you should be, but hopefully you brought home some pie to enjoy later on and tomorrow, too. If you're like most people, there's no such thing as too much pie, and there's nothing wrong with doing this whole pie road trip all over again in the opposite direction! Have fun and hooray for pie!
