Liverpool is home to the yearly Lights On The Lake festival, which this year runs from November 2023 to January 2024. It’s a display of dazzling lights that is two whole miles long, and it’s a must-see for any lovers of Christmas lights. In December, Skaneateles is the home of the annual Dickens Christmas festival, which features over 50 characters from Dickens books walking around the street. For those that love the iconic Christmas film “It’s A Wonderful Life,” a visit to Seneca Falls this season is a must. There’s the It’s A Wonderful Life festival, which takes part at the Seneca Falls “It’s A Wonderful Life” museum and celebrates all things that have to do with the film, including an autograph signing from cast members. Sitting right along the shores of Mirror Lake, this area is nothing short of magnificent. Many of the businesses lining Main Street have a front-row seat to these incredible waterfront views. And Lake Placid at Christmas (as well as its Main Street) is transformed by the annual winter glow and quickly becomes decorated in things like holiday lights and head-turning snow sculptures. Further transforming Main Street into something magical, each year for one week during Christmas in New York, Lake Placid hosts its Holiday Village Stroll that highlights some of our favorite parts of town. Giving you a reason to enjoy some of our favorite stops along Main Street, the Holiday Stroll takes place on the second weekend in December from Friday to Saturday.
Those who plan to visit Lake Placid Christmas on the weekend of the Holiday Stroll can expect to witness and partake in things like soup, chili, and chowder tastings along Main Street. And that is just scratching the surface of this Lake Placid Christmas event. On Saturday morning, you'll also see locals running (or walking) around Mirror Lake bright and early at 8:30 a.m. for the Jingle Bell Run - where people are encouraged to wear holiday-themed costumes.
Stop by the Mirror Lake Inn for even more holiday merriment. They really know how to deck the halls during Christmas in Lake Placid. Even Santa can't miss out on the fun during Lake Placid Christmas; you'll find him riding in on a firetruck! The sound of festive carols will fill the air and put a twinkle in your eye. This would excite even the Grinch! Everyone falls in love with Christmas in Lake Placid. The whole holiday season is packed with things like cookie decorating events, candy house-making parties, free showings of The Polar Express, and Ugly Sweater festivities.
