Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to visit the Smokey Bear Historical Park or the Fort Stanton Museum, located just outside of this small town.

If you are a nature lover, Cloudcroft is the perfect small town with a long list of outdoor activities regardless of the season. During the summer months, take a hike or explore the area on a mountain bike. During the winter, head to Ski Cloudcroft or go ice skating.

Santa Rosa is the perfect weekend getaway. This small town not only features the incredible Route 66 Auto Museum, but you’ll also want to visit Blue Hole, one of New Mexico’s natural swimming holes. This swimming hole features some of the clearest, bluest water in all of the Land of Enchantment.

5. Jemez Springs
Jemez Springs is another charming small town that all outdoor enthusiasts will love. This area features some of the most beautiful scenery and one-of-a-kind outdoor attractions such as Soda Dam and the hot springs. While visiting this small town in New Mexico, make sure to visit the Jemez Historic Site as well.
