If you're looking for the perfect weekend getaway, look no further than the Garden State. New Jersey has endless options when it comes to vacation destinations; from days of fun on the Delaware to shopping and a side of history in charming Cape May, you'll never be bored here. I designed this 2-day trip to strike the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.
Your ultimate destination is Long Branch.
This Central Jersey shore town is located under 2 hours from almost everywhere in the state. While you'll be spending the night here, Saturday will be a day of fun just south of the town.
Breakfast in Belmar.
Head to Hooked Cafe to start your day. The popular spot offers delicious food and outdoor dining. Another perk? It's just minutes from your next destination.
Mid-morning parasailing at Belmar Parasail.
Parasailing offers the perfect amount of thrills, but won't give you the chills. Less intense than bungee jumping, it will still get your blood pumping. You can sail solo or with a partner, and there are several packages that allow you to capture your adventure on film. You'll remember this forever.
Lunch on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Stroll the boardwalk for a bit and then stop for lunch at one of the many eateries. Favorites include Hoagitos, Langosta Lounge, Pop's Garage and MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos.
An amazing afternoon at Silverball Vintage Pinball Museum & Arcade.
Enjoy a dose of nostalgia with games dating back decades. You can easily play pinball for hours and you're sure to have a blast. Museums don't get much cooler and this trendy spot offers fun for all ages.
Dinner at the Sitting Duck.
There are several spots to dine in the area, but this casual spot has great steak and delicious desserts. Try the Toll House Pie or Molten Chocolate Cake.
An evening at the racetrack.
Monmouth Park Racetrack is a great place to take in an exciting event, and bet on it if you're feeling lucky. They regularly host unique festivals and events and are also home to Bluegrass Mini Golf.
Head back to the hotel.
Ocean Place Resort & Spa is located right on the beach and offers both indoor and outdoor pools. You'll also find a fitness center, game room (with billiards, kids play area and life-size chess board) and oceanfront cocktail service.
Time for breakfast!
Amy's Omelette House offers one of the best breakfasts in Long Branch. The selection of omelettes is endless and there are many other menu options to enjoy. Try the stuffed French toast or Nutella stacker.
A beautiful morning on the beach.
Spend your morning sunning and funning at the beach. Bring a book or boogie board, whatever suits your style.
Lunch at The Turning Point.
This Jersey-based chain is headquartered in Long Branch. A popular brunch spot, lunch is also amazing. Enjoy a salad/sandwich combo for $10.25 or indulge in the Cracked Lobster Quesadilla.
