Nevada has many towns with their own special character and history. One of Nevada's most special towns is Incline Village, with its stunning lakeside and natural beauty. If you love the outdoors, you'll never run out of things to do in this amazing small town.

Incline Village is located on the northeastern edge of Lake Tahoe, overlooking Crystal Bay. The town's name comes from the Great Incline Tramway, a 4,000 foot long tram built in 1878 to transport logs.

The town was founded in 1882 and sprang up around the increased activity of the Sierra Nevada Wood and Lumber Company in the late 1800s. The last census in 2010 listed the population as 8,777 people.

Incline Village has many fine dining establishments such as The Lone Eagle Grille.

The Grille serves cuisine focused on local ingredients with beautiful panoramic window views of the lake in its dining room. You can also enjoy a cocktail outside when the weather is right and enjoy sitting by a fire pit with a spectacular view of the lake.

Sand Harbor is a popular spot for enjoying the lake. Most of the beaches on the Nevada side of the lake are more rocky than sandy although Sand Harbor is an exception (hence the name!)

Sand Harbor is open year round and there are two ramps for boating activities. There are picnic and restroom facilities and access to hiking trails. Entrance fees are $7.00 in the off season and $12.00 during the summer - consult the park website for more details.

There are many fun things you can do on the lake, such as boat cruises, speedboating, canoeing, kayaking, and of course, swimming and fishing. Tahoe Fly Zone provides a unique type of water sport!

In addition to jetski, paddleboard and speedboat rentals, you can "flyboard" through the Tahoe Fly Zone. How fun does this look?? Consult their website for rates and reservations.

Mountain biking is another extremely popular activity for residents and visitors to Incline Village. The Flume Trail has some spectacular views of the lake and mountains.

If you're visiting and don't have a bike, you can rent mountain bikes at Flume Trail Bikes which also provides shuttle service to two of the most popular trails at Spooner Lake State Park and the Tahoe Meadows.

When you finish your hike or ride, the rustic Tunnel Creek Cafe lies at the base of the Flume Trail and several other trails, and is situated next to Flume Trail Bikes.

The Cafe serves breakfast, wraps and sandwiches, and specialty coffee and tea They also regularly have beer on tap as well as a selection of bottle brews to quaff down after a long hard ride on the trail. The Tunnel Creek Cafe is located at 1115 Tunnel Creek Road.

Incline Village is an outdoor sports paradise all year round and skiing is huge in the winter months. Diamond Peak Ski Resort has miles of runs for all levels of skill with exquisite views.

At the end of the season, be sure to show up for their annual Diamond Peak Dummy Downhill event. Entrants build "dummies" that are fitted on skis and snowboards and sent down the slopes to the enthusiastic cheers of the crowds below. Diamond Peak Ski Resort is located at 1210 Ski Way.

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival features the classics acted out on a stage with the lake and forest as a backdrop.

This popular event happens every summer at Sand Harbor. Audience members enjoy picnic baskets under the stars while watching the show. You can buy your dinner at Shakespeare's Kitchen which is open during the event, or pre-order a meal when you purchase tickets, and premium ticket holders can have meals served to them at a special Cafe seating section. Tickets can be reserved at the event's home website.

Another favorite eatery is Crosby's which serves as a grill, pub and a casino all in one. The place definitely has an unassuming exterior but there's some wonderful outdoor seating right by the forest (which is also dog friendly!)

Crosby's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with some hearty "American" favorites like steak, BBQ ribs, burgers, grilled sandwiches, soups and salads. They are located at 868 Tahoe Boulevard in Christmas Tree Village/Incline Village.
