Just in time for Christmas, here's a list of some of the most enthusiastic Christmas celebratin' towns in the state of Nevada! We think you and your family will love them.
1. Genoa
Genoa is the oldest town in the state of Nevada and it's known for its lovely old fashioned homes and architecture. Genoans love Christmas and the whole town is decorated with lights, including all of the government buildings.
2. Ely
Ely is the home of the Nevada Northern Railway which runs the popular "Polar Express" each winter. This Santa-themed train ride takes children and families through the town to view all the Christmas lights, their own version of the "North Pole" and celebrate the holiday through carols and stories.
3. Fallon
Fallon celebrates Christmas with style with a big tree lighting ceremony at the start of December. Hundreds of residents attend the tree lighting, no matter how cold it is outside!
4. Sparks
Sparks celebrates Christmas with an annual holiday parade starting at Victorian Square. The parade features marching bands, holiday floats, marchers in Christmas costumes, animals, the Mayor of Sparks, and of course, Santa Claus!
5. Gardnerville
The Carson Valley Christmas Kickoff is Gardnerville's annual holiday event. The event at Heritage Park features Christmas lights, horse-drawn wagon rides, carolers, bell ringers, delicious holiday food like hot cocoa and spiced cider, and a fantastic fireworks display.
6. Reno
There are tons of Christmas activities to choose from in Reno! There's everything from concernts, art shows, arts and crafts festivals, and more. WinterFest at the Greater Nevada Field includes ice skating and the Holiday Express Train. And adults will enjoy the Reno Santa Crawl!
7. Carson City
Carson City, the capital of Nevada, is known for the Silver & Snowflakes Festival of Lights. The Capitol building and surrounding government buildings on the grounds are covered with lights. The lighting of the tree at the festival also includes includes carolers, entertainment, and visits with Santa and the Grinch.
8. Virginia City
Christmas on the Comstock is the big annual event in Virginia City to celebrate the holiday. This rustic, historical town is decked out in holiday lights from the buildings to the cars for the Parade of Lights, which is followed by the "Grinch Made Me Do It Saloon Crawl" for adult revelers. The whole town has Christmas themed activities for the month, including concerts, photos with Santa, crafts fairs, and the V&T Candy Cane Express.
9. Henderson
The City of Henderson holds an annual WinterFest with concerts, a tree lighting and a holiday parade. It's also known for the amazing exhibit at the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory. The factory is home to a three acre cactus garden that is covered with holiday lights every November and December. It is truly a Christmas light spectacle "not to be missed!"
10. Las Vegas
Las Vegas is known for glittering lights all year long, so of course the town has to pull out all the stops to make Christmas lights even more noticeable to tourists and locals alike. One of the most wonderful Christmas traditions is the Conservatory at the Bellagio Hotel, which features a different Christmas exhibit each year and they are truly one-of-a-kind and unforgettable.
