There's no denying that the best part of school is field trips. After all, who doesn't enjoy taking a break from the classroom and riding a school bus (along with their friends) to one of Nevada's top tourist attractions? If you grew up in Nevada, you may remember taking some of these field trips:
1. Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam, located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, is one of the greatest engineering achievements of the 20th-century and continues to attract more than one million visitors each year, including students and teachers who are eager to learn all about this national landmark.
2. Nevada State Capitol - Carson City
Who hasn't taken a field trip to the Nevada State Capitol? At the Nevada State Capitol, students will learn all about the state's government and founding fathers. (101 N Carson St.)
3. Mormon Station State Historic Park - Genoa
Mormon Station State Historic Park is the site of Nevada's first permanent non-native settlement. At this historic park, students will have the opportunity to view a replica of the original trading post and various artifacts. (2295 Main St.)
4. Ethel M Chocolates - Henderson
Who doesn't love chocolate? Ethel M Chocolates offers a free factory tour showing students how their premium candy is made. Students will also be given samples to taste. SWEET! (2 Cactus Garden Dr.)
5. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada - Carson City
At The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, children of all ages will learn the wonder of science, art and everyday life skills. A few of their main floor exhibits include the following: The Wildlife Exhibit, The Old Music Shoppe and The Schoolhouse. This is a great place to bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. (813 N Carson St.)
6. Nevada Northern Railway Museum - Ely
Adults and kids of all ages love the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. Established in 1905, this historic train museum features a real working 19th-century steam locomotive that students enjoy riding. (1100 Avenue A)
7. Great Basin National Park - Baker
While exploring Great Basin National Park, students will become excited the moment they stumble upon the ancient bristlecone pines and Lehman Caves. (Hwy 488)
8. Bonnie Springs Ranch - Las Vegas
Bonnie Springs Ranch is a western-themed amusement park that features horseback riding, a zoo, a miniature train ride, etc. This unique amusement park is the PERFECT location for an amazing field trip. (1 Gunfighter Ln)
9. Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park - Gabbs
At Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park, students are fascinated by the remains of ichthyosaurs that are on display in the Fossil House. Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park also preserves the historic mining town of Berlin. (HC 61 Box 61200)
10.Humboldt Museum - Winnemucca
While students are visiting Humboldt Museum, they'll quickly learn all about the community that surrounds them. Remains from the Ice Age and a collection of vintage automobiles are just a few of the many items a student will get to view at this historic museum. (175 Museum Way)
