Tennessee is known for its sweeping vistas, its rolling hills, and its quiet, rolling rivers. There are countless scenic routes that you can take to see everything that the state has to offer, but if you want one of the best ways to see the beauty that Middle Tennessee has to offer, take the train. That's right, this excursion train offers Nashville train rides every few weeks along some of the most scenic tracks you'll ever see, and you need to put this on your Nashville bucket list ASAP.
The Tennessee Central Railway Museum might just be a small non-profit in downtown Nashville, but their one-of-a-kind train rides through Middle Tennessee are truly iconic.
The railway runs excursion trips on weekends about twice a month. The destinations range from nearby Lebanon to far out DelMonaco Winery.
On the longer trips, you'll go straight through some of the state's most underrated and beautiful areas. There's not a bad seat on the train, but you can reserve your seat online early if you want a specific spot.
Many of the excursions that are run by the museum are themed train rides and feature local wineries or even murder mystery plays.
The highlight of the train is the coveted dome car. While these are understandably the most expensive seats on the train, they also allow for the best views of the Tennessee countryside.
Excursions typically last all day on Saturdays, but be sure to check out The Tennessee Central Railway Museum website for availability and tickets.
The Tennessee Central Railway Museum is located just outside of downtown Nashville at 220 Willow Street. Be sure to book your train excursion tickets online beforehand as some rides sell out!
