When it comes to Montana's Christmas towns, Bigfork definitely holds the official title as Montana's Christmas Village. That said, the Treasure State is full of the holiday spirit, and plenty of our charming cities add some fun, festive decor. But when it comes to thoroughly diving into this magical time of year, you'll definitely want to be sure to enjoy a Whitefish, Montana Christmas!
Whitefish is an absolutely delightful destination in any season.
While the city streets stay packed all summer, you won't see much of a slow down after the first snowfall. That's when the winter recreation fun starts.
In late November, the first of the city décor appears...
...and before long, the entire downtown area is decked out in holiday magic. This is one of the most iconic streets in Montana.
Whitefish actually has a lot to decorate, as there's quite a bit happening during the holidays.
From the Christmas Stroll in early December to the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade at Whitefish Mountain Resort and February's Whitefish Winter Carnival, it seems as if there's always something to look forward to here (and we love it).
Many of the local shops, restaurants, and hotels also decorate for the season.
This is Hidden Moose Lodge, a cozy place to curl up after a long day of exploring.
And doesn't the Garden Wall Inn look like something out of a Hallmark movie?
This restored 1920s inn always goes all out.
It's no secret that this mountain town gets extremely cold when the sun goes down.
That said, you should bundle up and venture out for a night walk anyway. You won't be sorry.
Can't make it to Whitefish before Christmas?
Good news - the decorations typically stay up until about the middle of February. So you still have plenty of time to take in all the twinkling.
