In Montana, we believe in embracing every season to the fullest, especially the warm days of summer. Now that it's finally here, it's time to get out and explore all the places you dream of seeing while you're scraping the ice off your windshield for the thirtieth day in a row. Need some suggestions? Don't worry, we've got plenty - we love all the scenic places in Montana that are uniquely our own. And depending on what part of the Treasure State you call home, you may be able to see some of these in a single day. Here are some of the best day trips in Montana for the adventurous soul:
1. Enjoy a day of boating or relaxing at Lake Como.
Lake Como in Montana is located in the Bitterroot National Forest near Darby. It's an absolute treasure, especially on a summer day.
2. Or, go for a slightly less crowded lake day and hike the Mystic Lake Trail.
We've recently mentioned that Mystic Lake is underrated. The surrounding trail offers breathtaking views and a great workout, too!
3.Take a boat through Montana's Grand Canyon.
If you've never seen the Gates of the Mountain in Montana, make this the summer you go. You can easily book a boat ride here.
4. Relax at Whitefish City Beach.
Whether you love swimming or you prefer lakeside lounging, Whitefish City Beach is the next best thing to a day at the ocean.
5. Spend some time hiking through Makoshika State Park.
While our winters can be brutal, the summers are gorgeous, and Makoshika State Park in Montana has a unique beauty you won't want to miss.
6. Take the Montana Ice Cream Trail.
We once created an itinerary for an ice cream trail in Montana that takes you to some of our finest ice cream shops. You may want to take a weekend to complete it so you don't have too many waffle cones in a day.
7. Cool off at Montana's secluded water park.
Woodland Park is located in Kalispell, and when the water park opens for the summer, it's always a good time.
8. Float the Jefferson.
Head to Missouri Headwaters State Park in Three Forks and float the Jefferson River for a beautiful and relaxing experience you won't soon forget.

9. Go back in time in Virginia City.
Montana's most charming ghost town is especially delightful in the summertime, with performances, carriage rides and characters dressed straight out of the Old West. Virginia City, Montana is one of a kind.
10. Hike the Holland Lake and Falls Trail.
Located in the Flathead National Forest near Condon, this three-mile hiking trail in Montana is one you'll want to hike over and over again.
11. See a classic Montana landmark.
Whether it's the beautiful St. Ignatius Mission, Our Lady of the Rockies or even the old Shep statue in Fort Benton, make it your mission to see a classic Montana monument or landmark this summer. It's always fun to see a piece of local history.
