All it takes is one visit to Bozeman or Missoula to realize that Montana’s big and mid-sized cities have delicious food. But don’t be so quick to pass by our small towns when you’re looking for a good quality restaurant meal. You’ll easily find amazing restaurants in most of our small towns, and these 10 especially are known for their great spots to eat.
1. Philipsburg
This tiny tourist town has a few restaurants that are big on flavor. Friday Night Pizza serves delicious New York style pizza, The Station is the go-to spot for brunch, and UpNSmokin BBQ House is finger lickin’ good.
2. Manhattan
As most Montanans known, Manhattan is the home of Sir Scott’s Oasis, one of the best steakhouses in the state. But you’ll also find a few other gems here, like Garden Cafe (for breakfast) and Nogan’s (for lunch). Drive down the road a few miles to Logan and you’ll find Land of Magic Dinner Club, another stellar steakhouse.
3. Havre
Havre is where you’ll find Rod’s Drive Inn, home of the infamous Ugly Burger. Its other delicious restaurants, like Lunch Box and Nalivka’s Original Pizza Kitchen, make it a little restaurant mecca in Northeast Montana.
4. Whitefish
Whitefish has been named one of the "Coolest Small Towns in North America" by Budget Travel magazine, and you’ll certainly find some of the coolest (and most diverse!) restaurant options in Montana there. Loula’s Cafe, Whitefish Lake Restaurant, Latitude 48, Ciao Mambo and Wasabi Sushi Bar are just a few of the many great choices.
5. Libby
When it comes to the great outdoors, there’s a lot to do in the Libby area. And since a good hike always works up an appetite, you can enjoy a meal at Rosita’s, Henry’s, Loaves and Fishes or the Libby Cafe, just to name a few.
6. Belgrade
Belgrade is typically content to hang out in Bozeman’s shadow, but this town can hold its own when it comes to great restaurants. The Mint Cafe, Pizza on Broadway, Damasco’s and the Rise and Shine Cafe all serve amazing food.
7. Big Timber
Timber Bar. Need we say more? You really can’t go wrong with restaurants in this charming little town—Frosty Freez, Country Skillet and Iron Star Pizza Company are also worthy of a stop.
8. Stevensville
The locals in Stevensville know that Flavorful is the best place to go for a quick, reasonably priced, surprisingly healthy burrito. There are several other must-try spots in town, like Long Riders Bar B Que and The Catered Table.

9. Ennis
As if it’s not enough that the Ennis area is breathtakingly beautiful, it also has some amazing places to enjoy a meal. The Bear Trap Grille and The Alley Bistro are great spots to stop for lunch, and Yesterday’s Soda Fountain serves great food and treats in a charming setting.
10. Fort Benton
Fort Benton doesn’t have a lot of restaurants, but they seem to take a "quality over quantity" approach. The Union Grille Restaurant is a great place to get a steak, and the wake Cup Coffee House serves the best brunch in town.
