Spring is in the air, which means... admittedly not much here in Montana. But warmer weather is on the way (really), and most of us have quite the case of cabin fever by now. It's time to do a little spring exploring, and these destinations happen to be especially beautiful this time of year.
1. Head to our charming gold rush town, Dillon.
We've previously talked about some of Dillon's most redeeming qualities. As a charming small town that's sometimes overlooked, you can enjoy a quiet and relaxing getaway.
2. Visit Deer Lodge and tour the Old Montana Prison Museum.
Is this old prison really haunted? Probably. Is it fascinating to tour? Definitely.
3. Take a road trip to Fort Benton and go for a stroll along the Missouri River.
There's so much to love about historic
Fort Benton. If you've never been, prepare to fall in love with the area.
4. Two words: Hot springs.
How does a nice, relaxing soak at one of our beautiful hot springs sound after a long, cold winter? Amazing, of course.
5. Walk through the beautiful Garden of One Thousand Buddhas.
Located just north of the small town of Arlee, the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas is a peaceful place that is a joy to visit, especially in spring.
6. Head to Stevensville for a relaxing weekend getaway.
We created a great two-day itinerary for enjoying a weekend in Stevensville full of shopping, historic landmarks and delicious dining.
8. Take a scenic drive down a country road.
Time it right and you'll enjoy a nice, sunny spring drive.
8. Take a refreshing walk through a grove of cedars.
Located in Northwest Montana near Libby and Troy, the
Ross Creek Cedars Recreation Area is a gorgeous place perfect for a spring nature walk.
9. Sneak off to Glacier National Park before the summer crowds arrive.
Timing a proper trip to Glacier can be tricky since the summer crowds show up as soon as the winter snow begins to melt. But if you can go in late spring before summer vacations begin, you can enjoy some beautiful uncrowded time at the park.
There's so much to love about spring in Montana. Don't forget, this is when many of our incredible Farmers Markets open for business.
