It's safe to say that if you live in Montana, you love nature — we're surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery on the planet. But if you love outdoor activities and celebrating all four seasons to the fullest, there's no doubt that Big Sky is a little piece of paradise.
Big Sky is a community in the Rocky Mountains, overlapping both Gallatin and Madison counties.
Around 2,500 people live here, although the town sees plenty of visitors throughout the year.
Its geographical location and climate make it a perfect ski destination, and it's definitely a prime place to hit the slopes.
The ski area at Big Sky Mountain Resort has a summit elevation of 11,166 feet and sees an average annual snowfall of more than 400 inches.
Needless to say, Big Sky Resort stays perpetually packed all winter long, and sometimes well into spring.
When the weather permits, many active Montanans enjoy hiking the beautiful Beehive Basin Trail.
This 7-mile trail is easy to find from the town center.
Without a doubt, Beehive Basin offers some of the best views in Montana.
The trail is ranked as moderate, meaning if you're a reasonably experienced hiker, you'll be able to enjoy it to the fullest.
The relaxing 1.6-mile Ousel Falls Trail is located near Big Sky as well.
This hike is easy, pleasant, and leads to this beauty.
There's nothing like trekking through the mountains on horseback on a clear spring day...
...and with the Gallatin River cascading through the edge of town, you can always enjoy a day of fishing or river rafting.
Big Sky has plenty of lodges and resorts to accommodate you, but when the weather is warm, nothing beats camping in nature.
Luckily, there are plenty of places to do that here.
