Main streets are the heart and soul of small town America. It's where you can walk into town and run into someone you know while supporting local businesses. During the holidays, these particular Missouri main streets glitz it up a bit with Christmas lights and other activities.
1. Weston
Weston's Main Street runs all the way down to the Missouri River. Throughout the month, stores will be decorated inside and out for some cheery holiday shopping.
2. Clarksville
Christmas is pretty popular in Clarksville, but Eagle Days is another event that locals wait for each year. Eagle season runs from December-February and during the last weekend of January, Eagle Days is held where visitors can learn more about eagles and partake in other fun activities.
3. Clinton
Santa will be visiting downtown Clinton on select dates from December 2nd-16th. Additionally, the Henry County Library will be holding jewelry making classes Monday, December 5th and Saturday, December 10th, so you can make a truly unique gift for a loved one.
4. Joplin
The Downtown Joplin Christmas Parade takes place on December 6th at 6 p.m. and will begin at 15th and Main St. and end at 3rd and Main St. On Saturday, December 10th, there will be a holiday pop-up shop at 320 East 4th Street with several vendors, a gourmet hot chocolate bar, door prizes and more.
5. Jackson
Celebrate the holidays in Uptown Jackson. On December 3rd, the city hosts a Christmas parade and a pajama run. For more holiday fun, head over to the Lights of the Season and Holiday Extravaganza at City Park for some amazing Christmas Light Displays on Parkview Street.
6. St. Charles
When Historic St. Charles dresses up for Christmas, it'll feel like you're walking through a Charles Dickens novel. This old town annually hosts "Christmas Traditions" which include carolers, visits from Santa and carriage rides all in downtown St. Charles.
7. Parkville
Take the kids to visit Santa at Santa's House in downtown Parkville from Friday, November 18, 2016 - Friday, December 23, 2016, 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
8. Lees Summit
On December 2nd-3rd, Lees Summit hosts Hometown Holiday to encourage shopping local in their downtown. You'll be amazed at how many unique stores are in this downtown! Visitors can shop for even more unique gifts on December 17th when the Farmers Market Holiday Mart takes place. Additionally, Santa Claus will be visiting downtown each weekend to talk to all the good boys and girls this holiday season.
9. Lexington
After you shop local in downtown Lexington, take the Holiday Homes Tour on December 4th and see the beautiful homes that decked themselves out for the holidays.
10. St. Joseph
Take an enchanted carriage ride to Robidoux Resident Theatre where you can see "Miracle on 34th Street" on stage. On December 4th, the 18th Annual Reindog Holiday Parade is held so the pups aren't left out this holiday season.
