Kansas City's bustling businesses and city wide tourism brings in a lot of extra bodies some days. We're lucky to be such a well funded city with all of our attractions, but sometimes it gets a bit crowded. If you've ever been feeling cramped in the city, here's a list of 9 non-crowded places to enjoy.
9. Filling Station - 2980 McGee Trafficway, Kansas City, Missouri
Though this coffee house isn't empty, it's a lot quieter than your local chain. Their food is also fantastic, leaving less mouths talking and more enjoying the food and coffee.
8. Loose Park - 5200 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri
Loose Park is a classic for anyone who wants to leave the bustle of the city, and though there's people walking around, you'll almost never find a crowd.
7. Folly Theater - 300 W 12th St., Kansas City, Missouri
Enjoying a show here alone is as easy as getting a ticket in one of the boxes. That way, you won't have pesky neighbors chatting you up about the performance.
6. The Friendly Bean - 420 NE Barry Rd., Kansas City, Missouri
The Friendly Bean is just that - a friendly little coffee shop. They're on the smaller side popularity-wise, and have plenty of menu items you've probably never heard of.
5. Hodge Park - 7500 NE Barry Rd. Old, Kansas City, Missouri
Hodge Park is another nature getaway right in Kansas City. Taking a hike is a surefire way to make sure no one will bother you, especially if you have earphones in.
4.Kansas City Public Library - 4801 Main St., Kansas City, Missouri
The library can be crowded during events, but normally it's pretty quiet and rarely bustling. It's an important part of a student's studies, so peace and quiet is respected and encouraged here.
3. Hidden Valley Park - 4029 N Bellaire Ave., Kansas City, Missouri
Similar to the ranch dressing, this park is a perfect place for greenery. Everything's so lush and full of life, except there's almost no one around, compared to the Plaza where everyone seems to get together. Ah, fresh air and peace.
2. Scratch Bakery - 310 W 8th St., Kansas City, Missouri
This cozy bakery specializes in baked goods of all kinds, and they're almost never overloaded with people. Also, their homemade pop-tarts are just amazing.
1. Parkville Nature Sanctuary - 9 & 12th St., Parkville, Missouri
Though not technically in Kansas City, it's close enough that we recommend visiting for sure. The little waterfall and local wildlife are sure to bring a sense of calm that comes along with a lack of crowds. It's my #1 pick, and if you've been there, you'll understand why.
Afterwards, maybe take a walk around one of Kansas City's amazing flea markets? They're probably not very crowded, either.
