All aboard! Traveling by train may not be as popular as it once was but that doesn’t make it seem any less exciting, and while the options for train rides in Mississippi are a bit limited, they do exist. From cross-country adventures that pass through the state to local routes that stay close to home, boarding any of these trains will without a doubt result in an experience that you won't soon forget. 1. Amtrak - The Crescent Train
Searching for "train rides near me?" Running over 1,300 miles from New York to New Orleans, this Amtrak route in Mississippi makes for some great scenery, such as this shot taken in Lumberton. If you’re looking for a fulfilling experience this is the train for you, as it passes through more states than any other Amtrak route. From start to finish it's about 30 hours, but well worth it when you think about the unforgettable views along the way.
2. Mississippi Train Tour Package - Biloxi Tour Train
This themed tour, which runs from Biloxi to Meridian, is a great way to do some sightseeing while experiencing Mississippi's history and culture. When it comes to unique things to do in Mississippi, this train ride tops the list.
3. Amtrak - City of New Orleans
While this musically-themed train tour travels from New Orleans, LA all the way to Chicago, IL, the portion of the tour from New Orleans, LA to Greenwood, MS is extra special, as it’s part of the "Trails & Rails" program. Partnering with Amtrak, the National Park Service created the program which aims to provide passengers with information on a selected region’s natural and cultural heritage.
