We'll take you through some of the best antique stores in Minnesota, and even suggest some great places to eat and stay for your big antique weekend. Take a look:
There are so many great antique and vintage shops within the Twin Cities that you could spend an entire weekend exploring just those. For that reason, we decided to stick to shops outside of the cities for this trip. It's about five hours of driving and would be ideal to start bright and early on a Saturday morning.
Here is the full route.
1. Grizzly Canyon Antiques and Collectables - Sleepy Eye
Starting at the southern end of our route, your stop at Grizzly Canyon Antiques and Collectables in the sleepy town of Sleepy Eye is sure to delight. As you browse the rows and shelves of treasures, keep in mind this shop's specialties. They offer a wide array of interesting antiques and collectibles. 2. Antiques to Go - Hutchinson
About an hour up the road is the city of Hutchinson. To get there, you'll pass through New Ulm, which has a few antique stores of its own. If you feel like stretching your trip out a bit, Antiques Plus would be a great stop.
But if you choose to go straight to Hutchinson, you'll be greeted by a huge antique store called Antiques to Go. Lunch stop: McCormicks Family Restaurant - Hutchinson
By lunchtime, all that antiquing will probably have worked up an appetite. Luckily, Hutchinson has more than a few great restaurants to choose from. If you're looking for something homey, your best bet is the McCormicks Family Restaurant in downtown Hutchinson. 3. Buffalo Nickel Antiques - Buffalo
After lunch, head on up the road to the small town of Buffalo. This town is home to one of Minnesota's most celebrated antique stores: Buffalo Nickel Antiques, a sprawling antique store housed in an old barn. This store is a treasure trove of antique goodies, from rustic furniture to vintage collectibles. Plan to spend a few hours here as there's that much to see. Overnight Stop: Ticknor Hill Bed & Breakfast
After your first day of antiquing, you'll probably be pretty tired. We recommend continuing up the road just a few more miles until you get to Anoka. This town is home to Ticknor Hill, an adorable bed & breakfast housed in a historic mansion. Every suite is lovely, and the next morning's breakfast will be just what you need to start your second day of shopping. 4. The Big White House - Anoka
After a good night's rest at Ticknor Hill Bed & Breakfast you'll be ready to head off for another day of exploring some of the best antique stores in Minnesota. Anoka has several great antique stores, and all are worth a visit if you aren't in a hurry. But if you're crunched on time, our Anoka pick is the Big White House. This antique store certainly lives up to its name and is one of the best antique stores in the Minneapolis area. The Big White House is filled to the brim with antique goodies filling every nook and cranny. They specialize in furniture, historical memorabilia, coins, and collectibles. 5. The Rusty Pick - Waite Park
About 50 miles from the Big White House is Waite Park, home to another great antique store. The Rusty Pick has 6,000 square feet filled with vintage, salvaged, and antique items. It's lunchtime! Just like Hutchinson, St. Cloud has dozens of places to dine. But a local favorite is Brigitte's Cafe, a spot known for its amazing breakfasts, which they serve all day. After lunch, your next stop is just a short drive away in the nearby town of St. Joseph.
