When you're road-tripping through Minnesota, it's hardly a shock that in multiple parts of the state you can find a photo op with a massive Paul Bunyan statue or a huge walleye (in fact, there are at least 5 towns in MN that claim to be the "Walleye Capital of the World," can you name them all?). But venturing through the lesser-known towns in MN, you might be surprised at some of the other massive attractions you'll find. From the World's Largest Booming Prairie Chicken, to the World's Largest Pelican, be prepared to see some epic sized attractions that your camera won't want to miss!
1. Hackensack - Paul Bunyan's Girlfriend, Lucette.
Paul Bunyan's sweetheart stands 17 feet tall!
2. New Ulm - Hermann the German.
This 32 foot tall warrior is the third largest copper statue in the United States!
3. Alexandria - Big Ole.
Nothing says MN like a massive representation of Viking Pride from the town visited by Norsemen.
4. Red Wing - World's Largest Boot.
Of course part of the The Red Wing Shoe Company's store and museum has to be the World's Largest Boot, too big for the Statue of Liberty to wear!
5. Fergus Falls - Otto the Otter.
This 40 foot long otter is the pride of Otter Tail County.
6. Blue Earth - Jolly Green Giant.
MN's own Jolly Green Giant stands over 55 feet tall, and even lights up at night for photo ops.
7. Olivia - Corn Gazebo.
The "Seed Corn Capital of the World" is appropriately decorated with this 50 foot structure.
8. Pelican Rapids - World's Largest Pelican.
Pelican Pete is ready to gobble up some fish!
9. Chisholm - "The Emergence of Man Through Steel."
This tribute to the miners of Minnesota's Mesabi, Vermilion, Cuyuna and Gogebic Ranges, this impressive statue stands 85 feet tall in total.
10. Rothsay - World's Largest "Booming" Prairie Chicken.
A 13 foot tall, slightly terrifying prairie chicken, stands poised to peck passersby.
11. Darwin - Largest Ball of Twine Rolled by One Man.
The only "largest twine ball" that matters can be found in Darwin, because it was all made by one man.
12. Belgrade - World's Largest Crow.
The world's largest crow stands on an equally impressive branch in the tiny town of Belgrade.
13. Two Harbors - Pierre the Pantsless Voyageur.
Pierre might not be the biggest voyageur in MN, and there are many, many more, but he is the only one dressed traditionally, without pants.
