The tiny town of Nevis is located in the heart of Minnesota’s North Woods. Despite its small size, we think Nevis punches well above its weight when it comes to charm and things to do. In fact, you’ll discover that the town is home to a man-made wonder in Minnesota with an outsized claim to fame.
Nevis is a small town of just under 400 located in the Heartland Lakes region of Minnesota, which stretches between Itasca State Park and Cass Lake, making a dogleg at Walker.
You'll find Nevis nestled on the shores of Lake Belle Taine.
Lake Belle Taine is a lovely lake that’s popular for swimming, fishing, all manner of boating, and water skiing. Halvorson Beach is located right in town, and it’s a great place to go to enjoy the lake.
The Heartland State Trail runs directly through Nevis.
It's just east of Dorset and west of Akeley.
This charming community is home to several thriving businesses, such as the Two Loon Candy shop.
This seasonal shop is housed in the town’s oldest building, where it serves up all the goodies it takes to satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth.

The are a few fine eateries in the area, like Iron Horse Bar and Grill.
The Iron Horse Bar and Grill is definitely the place to go when you’ve worked up an appetite, as the restaurant promises that “No one leaves hungry!”
The most surprising thing of all, though, is the town’s claim to fame.
Nevis is home to the “World’s Largest Tiger Muskie,” a massive fiberglass figure that the town had embraced into its being.
