Welcome to Cedarburg, Wisconsin! This enchanting small town is perfect for a day trip, especially as it's a mere a 30 minute drive from Milwaukee. Take a day off or spend a weekend; you'll get a small town feel while having lots to do. Let's take a little tour through a perfect day trip to Cedarburg!
Here we find the town Cedarburg: a historic town in Ozaukee County, just 20 miles north of Milwaukee.
This little gem is filled with art, shops, restaurants, and even sits right upon Cedar Creek.
On your way into the 'Burg, you can take the famous covered bridge! This nationally registered historic place is the last covered bridge in Wisconsin.
You'll pass over the beautiful Cedar Creek, which Cedarburg happily resides upon.
Once you make it to Main Street, you'll understand why we think Cedarburg is a great escape!
The main strip is full of cute shops and well-maintained historic buildings. It's quite enchanting.
The art and history shines brighter than ever, wherever you go.
Here you'll find the old mill and the pagoda: two of Cedarburg's most recognizable landmarks. These are both filled with great restaurants, as well as a brewery.
Silver Creek Brewing is Cedarburg's most famous brewery, and it's located right in the old mill. This is a great spot to grab some eats and sip on a brew on the patio.
Speaking of old mills: the woolen mill you see here was the first mill to provide electricity to the town. Now, it holds many small businesses and a winery.
The town now has two wineries—Cedar Creek and The Chiseled Grape—which both offer wine tastings every day of the week!
Cedar Creek Winery even sits upon a lake, which makes it a perfect place to spend the afternoon.
Some other great restaurants to stop by are Maxwell's for great lunch specials, Anvil Pub & Grille for burgers, or Farmstead for a juicy steak. Most of these places have a patio, so you can enjoy the warm summer days while they're still here!
As you walk on by, you'll find many historic pieces, including the Armbruster Clock. It was built in 1907... and still works!
Don't forget to check out the Interurban Trail Bridge!
In 1902, the bridge used to be used for the Milwaukee Railway Company. Now, it's a beautiful path for you to walk or bike over Cedar Creek.
You can't have a successful day trip without stopping for some ice cream! Make sure to check out The Chocolate Factory, but know that it's quite busy on a hot day!
Cedarburg is also well known for its festivals.
Strawberry Fest in the summer, Harvestfest in the fall, and Winterfest in winter are all packed with fun for the whole family. No matter what time of year, there's something going on in the 'Burg.
So...what are you waiting for?
