If you’re looking for a unique way to appreciate Michigan’s autumn foliage, look no further than the Southern Michigan Railroad Society. Throughout October, you can hop aboard one of the railroad’s charming trains and embark on their annual Fall Colors Tour. There’s no better way to enjoy the beauty of fall in the Mitten State while spending quality time with family and friends.
To start your fabulous train journey, head to the quaint town of Tecumseh. If you’re looking to do a bit of shopping in the downtown area, arrive early or plan to take the morning train so you can check out a few local shops after your ride.
After departing from the Southern Michigan Railroad station, you’ll be transported down the banks of the lovely River Raisin. Enjoy unparalleled views of the water and be sure snap a few photos along the way.
Your journey will also take you across a stunning bridge and through some of the area’s most scenic countryside spots — it’s nothing short of a fall fairytale.
Watch in wonder as rows of magnificently colored trees pass by your window, leaves falling gently to the ground. It’s nearly impossible not to be charmed by such natural Michigan beauty.
The train even makes a stop for complimentary donuts and apple cider provided by Kapnick Orchards. What more could you ask for on a perfectly crisp autumn day?
In all, your ride along the Fall Colors Tour railroad will last about two hours. When you return to the station, grab a quick bite to eat in Tecumseh or stick around to check out the local attractions.
The departure schedule for the Fall Colors Tour has not yet been released for 2017, but we can't wait to see when this awesome event will be up and running.
Whether it’s your first ride or your 50th, you won’t be disappointed with a visit to the Southern Michigan Railroad. It’s a one-of-a-kind October adventure that will leave your whole family in the fall spirit.
