One of the nicknames for The Cochrane House Luxury Historic Inn is the "B&B in the 313," in tribute to Detroit's area code. "Three" is a good theme for this property, which heralds its signature offering in three words: "Customized. Homemade. Breakfast." The phrase "location, location, location" also covers a big attribute of The Cochran House, positioned within about three blocks of three major sports venues in Detroit. Two sisters, Roderica and Francina James, opened the Inn in 2018 in the Brush Park neighborhood after an extensive interior renovation that created three rooms for guests, while retaining the historic framework of nearly 150 years.
The Cochrane House was built in 1870 and looks basically the same as ever from the outside, but just wait until you see what they've done inside.
The library is a classic example of how the James sisters have updated the interior of The Cochrane House.
The "CH" logo pillows are a signature feature of the three guest rooms, with names that serve as a tribute to Detroit's musical heritage and just sound soothing: Melodic, Jazz Fusion, and Rhythm Section.
How do you like your grits? A custom-ordered breakfast delivered to your room offers several options each morning.
With guests occupying only three rooms of The Cochrane House, the owners provide lavish attention, as shown by the charturie boards served upon arrival (before 7 p.m.).
Detroit's attractions are consolidated, giving The Cochrane House a prime location. Ford Field for football and Comerica Park for baseball are in the lower right corner of this skyline photo (which predates the arrival of Little Caesars Arena for hockey). The Fox Theatre and two dozen restaurants are also nearby.
The Cochrane House Luxury Historic Inn is exclusively for guests 21 and older. The Inn's website is well-designed and informative and offers booking information; you'll notice that weekend reservations are filled well in advance. The Cochrane House Facebook page has dozens of photos.
