As far as visiting Massachusetts goes, most people stick to summer beach trips and vacation trips to the coast. And with good reason – Massachusetts is a horrible place to be during the winter months.
It’s true. No sane person would ever think of spending any amount of time in the Bay State between the months of November and March. Why bother?
Here are few reasons why you’d best steer clear of Massachusetts during the winter.
1. To begin with, it’s exceptionally ugly.
Who would want to spend time somewhere that looks like that? You’d hurt your eyes.
2. Just white, grey and beige as far as the eye can see.
Don’t expect to see a hint of color until all that nasty snow melts.
3. There’s absolutely nothing to do.
We basically all hole up in our living rooms until the spring thaw.
4. You shouldn’t even consider leaving your house.
There’s basically nothing out there but endless frozen wasteland.
5. It’s so hard to find anything good and hot to eat.
We’re forced to subsist on the Hoodsie Cups left at the back of the freezer from summer.
6. And forget about fresh food.
It's a shame how all life here just withers and dies with the first frost.
7. You can’t even go to the beach anymore.
Everyone knows there’s no way to enjoy the coast once the mercury drops below freezing.
8. The lakes and ponds are useless as well.
Our natural resources are rendered horrible and unusable.
9. The cities pretty much shut down.
It’s a ghost town out there.
10. Small towns are also rather joyless.
Do you see any charm? Nope, not here.
11. Essentially, winter in Massachusetts is unattractive, boring and frigid. Be warned.
Hopefully that has you convinced to stay away from Massachusetts until spring – and to leave this awesome snowy state for the rest of us to enjoy.
If you do decide to visit against all advice, here are a few things that no one tells you about surviving a winter in Massachusetts.
