As warmer weather starts to hit Massachusetts and the days grow longer, spending more time outside becomes practically required. There’s no better way to enjoy the sunshine and load up on yummy (and healthy) snacks than to go strawberry picking, and this little farm in Massachusetts is one of the best places to do it.
Ward’s Berry Farm is a spectacular country spot bristling with tasty strawberries.
It’s located in the pretty town of Sharon just outside Boston, but it feels a million miles away from the bustle of the city.
The farm specializes in growing succulent berries like strawberries and blueberries, but they also grow pumpkins and perennials.
Here’s how strawberry picking works. First, you buy an empty pick-your-own container at a tent just before the fields.
Prices are super affordable. You’ll pay about $4 for a box that holds about a pound of berries, which is a way better deal than the grocery store.
If you want more strawberries, you can buy a two-quart (3.5-pound) box for $12 or a four-quart (seven pound) box $20.
Next, you head into the strawberry patches and fill your boxes with as many berries as will fit!
These berries are firm, plump, and exploding with flavor. They’re nothing like the ones at the supermarket.
The farm also has a farm store that’s open year-round, so you can get your berry fix even in the dead of winter.
