Every day spent in Boston is a great day, but there are still ways to make the most of your time and cram in as much fun as possible. We like to blend gorgeous sights with entertainment and, of course, mouthwatering food, to create the ultimate Boston experience. Here's what our best day would look like:
1. Head to Dunks.
A great day starts with caffeine. Depending on the time of year, that might mean a "regular" coffee or an iced one.
2. Take public transportation.
It's not always perfect, but taking the T or a bus isn't even an option in some places and it's a very Bostonian way to get around.
3. Visit a museum.
If you've already toured all of Boston's museums, then hats off to you, because there are A LOT of them. From the Children's Museum (pictured) to the Museum of Bad Art, Boston's cultural institutions are as varied as they are enthralling.
4. Head to the North End for a lunch featuring Italian food...
Any line you join in this neighborhood is worth the wait.
...or seafood.
No, really. It is.
5. Save room for dessert.
In order to address any serious issue, you need to give due consideration to all sides of an argument. Translation: the cannoli war in Boston is intense and you can't pick a side without eating your way through Mike's, Maria's, Modern Pastry... basically, any bakery beginning with the letter "M"!
6. Walk off lunch along Boston's prettiest streets.
Climb up the cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill or stroll along Comm Ave. You're in "America's Walking City," so there are loads of walkable areas to choose from.
7. Include a meander through one of our city's green spaces.
Exploring the Emerald Necklace alone could take you a week. There are parks geared towards every age group and taste here.
8. Admire Boston’s impressive architecture.
The South End and Back Bay, in particular, are brimming with architectural charm.
9. Duck into an indie store.
Whether you're seeking a new pen (head to Bromfield Pen Shop), coffee beans measured on old-school scales (at Polcari's), or new-to-you reading material (you'll love Brattle Book Shop), shopping in Boston is always a memorable experience.
10. It's five o'clock somewhere and that means it's pub time!
We may not have happy hour, but there are some pretty sweet deals on pub food at the bar and, if you're lucky, you may be able to catch some live music too.
11. Go to a game...
Regardless of which sport you decide to support, you're guaranteed an enthusiastic, devoted crowd and an atmosphere buzzing with energy.
12. …or the theater.
So many Boston theaters are divinely decorated that you're wowed before anyone even takes to the stage! This one might just be the most beautiful building in all of Boston!
