I love a good classic Christmas movie but Hallmark movies seem to be all the rage these days. It seems that nearly every single one takes place in an over-the-top twinkling Christmas town. If you want to experience that right here in Maryland, just head to one of the following places. Soak in the magic and pretend you're the star of your very own holiday movie.
1. St. Michaels
St. Michaels has their annual Christmas in St. Michaels weekend, which is full of holiday activities, including a parade. Or simply head here any day during December to experience shops decked out in glittering lights. What a winter wonderland!
2. National Harbor
See the giant Christmas tree, head to the Gaylord to experience ICE!, or simply spend a day shopping among the festive atmosphere. We love the National Harbor year-round, but it comes to life even more during the holidays.
3. Annapolis
Maryland's state capital somehow becomes even more charming during Christmastime. Sticking to its nautical roots, it even has a Christmas lights yacht parade!
4. Frederick
You can't go wrong with a visit to downtown Frederick, especially during Christmastime. See the boutiques covered in lights, witness caroling and more. If this photo doesn't say Hallmark movie, I don't know what does.
5. Ellicott City
Now recovering from TWO floods over the last few years, Ellicott City is still staying positive and keeping the holiday (and town) spirit alive. Come see storefront windows intricately decorated. It's never been more important to shop local and Christmastime is the perfect time to do just that.
6. Berlin
Peruse the local shops or take horse-drawn carriage ride. Berlin is a close-knit town that always gets into the holiday spirit.
7. Cumberland
This mountain town knows how to decorate a Main Street. Come see the town tree, giant snowflakes, and search for unique gifts or grab a bite to eat at the local businesses.
8. Baltimore
We can't end our list without including Baltimore. Charm City offers a German Christmas Market and ice skating at the harbor, or head to West 34th Street to experience festively decorated rowhomes. This quirky spot is a must-see at least once.
