Before we start, let us just say that in Maine "tiny" is relative a relative term. The truly tiny towns in Maine have less than 20 residents and some don't even have actual names. We're pretty proud of that and it's one of the best things about Vacationland. Today, we're talking about a small town that you might consider tiny or you might consider huge. But, either way, we hope you all consider taking a trip to our favorite place to get lunch in Winslow!
Gerry, the creator of Big G's Deli, was seemingly always headed towards something big.
After going through years of personal challenges, Big G's began to take shape in 1986.
Today, it's one of the most beloved places to eat in the area.
If you love sandwiches, the menu board is the thing of dreams.
With sandwiches like the "Miles Standwich," the "Governor King" and the "Ex Governor McKernan" Big G's is about as Maine as it gets!
And the portions are absolutely gigantic!
It's not uncommon to find people photographing their food to prove its size to the folks back home!
And we don't blame them! This food is so big that you need to hold it next to something (in this case a face!) to prove it.
Daily specials also adorn the menu board.
And the deliciousness extends beyond sandwiches to soups...
fries...
And of course - the Maine whoopie pie!
In fact, you can get any number of desserts to accompany your meal.
And don't forget breakfast!
Breakfasts are just as big!
Whatever it is you're hungry for, stop into Big G's and we can almost guarantee you won't leave hungry!
In fact, you'll probably leave with a to-go bag!
Big G's Deli is located at 581 Benton Avenue in Winslow, about two miles from downtown Waterville. Click here to visit their website and click here to go right to their lunch and dinner menu!
