At just over 35-miles, this 2.5 hour road trip will take you through a land where pioneers first roamed, as well as near some of the most breathtaking lakes in our state. Whether you need to get out of the house or you're thirsty for nature views, there's no better activity than rolling down your windows and taking a drive on Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway in Maine.
Welcome to Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway!
This 35-mile scenic byway takes State Route 4, 16, and 17 for roughly two and half hours, offering some incredible views along the way.
Along this scenic drive, you'll wind through mountains, meadows, near rivers and forests. If you're looking for nature views, there's truly no better drive.
One of the best stops along the way is at Mooselookmeguntic Lake. The views of this crystal-like water are absolutely breathtaking.
This remote area of Rangeley was first occupied by settlers in the 1800s, which makes driving through this land even more special.
Speaking of landmarks, this scenic drive also passes the Appalachian Trail and Height of Land—an unforgettable New England overlook.
